World’s First Sewage-powered Hydrogen Fuel Station Opens in California

The Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) has announced the opening of the world’s first tri-generation fuel cell and hydrogen energy station in Fountain Valley, California. The energy station is making use of sewage biogas in order to produce heat, electricity and hydrogen which will then create a stream of hydrogen. This hydrogen stream will be recurring and will not need large amounts of electricity for its production. Methane gas is produced at the OCSD treatment plant with the processing of sewage. The system will collect methane gas and reformulate these gasses into hydrogen. New Security Enhancements for Pentagon tours

Unspecified security enhancements will be added by the Defense Department to public tours at The Pentagon weeks before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This means that the world’s largest government building will begin to have much stricter security screening when the public tours resume in October. Around 100,000 visitors go to The Pentagon every year and there are only about 19 tour guides that guide these people- between 400 and 600 each day. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Opened To The Public

Before its official dedication, the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C. will open its gates to the residents of D.C. as well as to tourists who are clamoring to visit the memorial. D.C.’s Mayor Vincent Gray said that his officials are now facing tremendous demands for tickets for preview day. The memorial will have a sneak peek day for the city residents on August 23, 2011. Given the demand for tickets, Mayor Gray said that there will be no need for tickets. Anyone who wants to come and see the memorial will be allowed to see. The preview for the memorial site will take place between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. only. August 28th  will mark the official dedication of the memorial.
