Tax Incentives for Employers Hiring DC Residents

Mayor Vincent Gray of Washington DC has launched a citywide initiative that will bring more jobs to around 35,000 jobless residents of the city. One City, One Hire is a citywide program that will attract more employers to come to DC. It is patterned after Hire One Atlanta, which hired 5,000 unemployed people in Georgia City to numerous local companies in the first six weeks. Fuel Your Car With Recycled Newspapers

Researchers at Tulane University claim that recycling newspapers can be used as a biofuel to power vehicles. The bacteria, “TU-103”, was discovered by scientists and is said to be able to convert newspapers into butanol, an excellent biofuel substitute for gasoline. Scientists at the David Mullin’s lab in Tulane’s Department of Cell and Molecular Biology discovered the TU-103 while weeding through several animal droppings. This bacteria is said to be the first bacterial strain that can produce bitanol directly from cellulose. Cellulose is an organic matter that is found in paper. A new website is being launched by the White House called “We the People”, where people can conveniently address the federal government. This will continue to support the constitutional right of the people to petition the government but the approach is more digital, embracing the new age. Members of the public can create and sign petitions to seek action from the government on various issues. The new webpage will be launched Thursday (September 6, 2011) on the White House’s official website, http://www.whitehouse.gov. If any petition draws enough signatures, an official response is assured to be issued. The petition would need 5,000 names within 30 days for it to gain official response.
