Balance is Key to Happy Chi

In an effort to simplify the process of finding your Tao (or path) to peace and harmony, allow me to explain the very core of FengShui: opposite polarities of negative and positive energies, also known as yin and yang, are a fundamental fact of the universe.  Thus, the practice of FengShui, which can be described as the recreation of balance in the space between Heaven and Earth, is an important tool to help you create ayin and yang balance in your home and in your life. Allow me to break this down further: Yin describes a softer energy known as female energy and yang describes a more aggressive, harder energy known asmale energy. This does NOT mean that all women are yin and that all men are yang, nor should they be! Yin and Yang describe attributes. The duality...

Wishing Upon the Stars

So many of you have asked for the most recent stars for this month, April 5 to May 4, 2014. Unfortunately, my books from Kuala Lumpur (that contain this info) have yet to arrive. Until they do, I offer an outline of the main stars and their directions, and a promise to provide a more thorough analysis of their strengths and weaknesses for this month when I have the charts. Thank you for your understanding! When making your wishes, remember to put your back to the specific direction (use your compass) that provides the energy that can aid in making your specific requests a reality. Close your eyes and visualize your heart-felt wishes coming true to the point that your visualizations are palpable. Imagine how it feels when you accomplish your goals and relish in...

Spring Clean the Chi

The sun is shining, the flowers are sprouting and this unforgiving winter has finally packed its bags and left us for good. I couldn’t be happier. The beginning of spring means the budding of brand new, happy energy awaits. With one quick day of some serious spring-cleaning, our homes will be ready to greet this new, positive energy with open arms!!!!! ….or will they? If you’ve got a house full of clutter, chances are the answer is a big fat NOPE. Clutter usually hangs around our homes because we don’t even realize that it’s clutter. Suddenly, decades go by and you have an attic full of boxes that you haven’t looked at in years. Your home couldn’t welcome that energy even if it wanted to. When it comes to Feng Shui, anything that is neglected,...

Life in the Gluten-Free Aisle

Is it just me, or is the crazy gluten-free diet not so crazy anymore? When I started eating gluten-free five years ago, people looked at me like I was nuts!! “Well, what on earth can you eat?” I can still hear my mother asking. “Really Mom, there are tons of things that I can eat!” I’d lie, with the intention of keeping her from worrying (my mother’s big worry in her old age was that I, as a 60ish year old woman, was too thin. I hadn’t yet accumulated the expected mid-section fat that was believed to hold estrogen, and therefore ward off osteoporosis!) Truth be told, she was kinda right—about the difficulty finding gluten-free foods, not that I was too thin!! It was a struggle to find satisfying gluten-free foods. Chickpeas on a bed of salad is yummy for only so...
